Discover Kansas City, a town of pioneers, artists and jazz. Kansas City is also the City of Fountains and the home to the only World War I museum in the nation! It is the city of sunken treasure from the steamboat Arabia, of delicious food and the famous Plaza.
We will begin our day with a guided tour of the National World War I Museum. This premier exhibit envelopes you in the days preceding and during the World’s War to end all wars.
A driving tour will allow us to discover some of the artwork and fountains of Kansas City, a city which is only second to Rome for having the most fountains in the world. We’ll eat lunch on the Plaza. The Plaza, considered to be the oldest shopping center in the country, is also an outdoor art museum.
En route to the Steamboat Arabia Museum, we will see more of this amazing city, including the Kansas City Power and Light District. When we arrive at the Arabia, our guided tour will let us discover the astonishing time capsule of artifacts, from perfume bottle to merchandise for a village’s existence, plus an amazing family’s story of discovering sunken treasure.
To go on this tour, we must have 35 people registered. Docents, their friends and families are invited to participate in our 2nd Annual Docent Enrichment Tour!
This tour includes: Transportation to Kansas City and back on a deluxe motorcoach, guided tour of Kansas City with professional guide, admission and guided tours at the World War I and The Arabia Museums a decadent lunch on the Plaza and homemade brownies for the ride.
